The Ultimate For Laptop SurvivalMar 03, 2007
By J. Johnson This Pelican case is far more than I expected it to be.
I own a few different Pelican models for my cameras and such but this one is different.
I researched all the online sources I could drum up for spec's before I purchased
and even called Pelican and inquired a little more.
In none of the ad's, nor during my phone inquiry did they list everything mine came with.
First off, without the standard adjustable foam insert, I was curious as to the bump protection
this case would provide.
I was told there was a padded slip cover for the computer included.
Pro's:
Well it ends up this slip cover is all but bullet proof alone without the hard case.
Very thick and well build.
The lower section of the case is padded with a permanently attached liner.
There was also a zipper bag included that fits along side the slip cover in the lower portion of the case.
The zipper bag has elastic tie downs inside to keep your charger and cords in place and a net bag on the opposing side. All very usable.
In the upper section, the top pocket is large enough that it holds two of my external HD vaults and closes with no problem. Everything, down to the cell phone pocket, which happens to have a magnetic clasp, is built extra tuff.
Over-all it is quite a bit more streamline to carry than I first thought it might be.
This case will last a lifetime and was well worth the price charged.
Con's:
It has some weight to it......

Best hard caseJun 18, 2008
By Sang Nguyen

If you are looking for a case that stands up to punishment, then this is it. I am deployed to Afghanistan and it is the best thing to use, I can put it in with all my other baggage that gets treated rough and not have to worry about taking it on the plane with me. If that is what you are looking for then look no further. Not very elegant for those that like to accessorize their laptop case, but very sturdy and takes a beating.

Handles the biggest 17"Mar 19, 2010

Handles my Clevo D900F (Sager 9280) including the power brick! If you google the D900F, or know anything about highend notebooks, you will see that if this case can handle the D900F, it can handle any 17" with ease.

Solid but heavy!Jul 25, 2008
By Nick from Long Island This is a rock solid case I use to carry aboard boats. The downside is its weight. It's about 13 pounds which is a lot heavier than the computer itself.

Protection For A PremiumJan 15, 2011
By flashalan PROS:
This is a very solid case that will undoubtedly last a very long time.
Room for cords and some extras. Locks up tight. Well built. Great for traveling.
Can withstand whatever mother nature throws at it. Has a nice sleeve inside to put your PC in.
There is a padded bumper that goes around the inside bottom half of case for protection.
Great warranty.
CONS:
This case is heavy and if I had to carry it around all day long,
I would go with a lighter model. No built in protection tray for PC.
You also have to unlatch 4 clasps around the case to open it which,
doesn't seem like much but is a hassle at times.
Expensive to purchase this case costs a lot of money.
Conclusion:
I gave it four stars because it it needs refining.
My use is mostly traveling by truck and I put the case in and out several times throughout the day.
At times it gets bumped and banged. For my application it works well. A 15 inch Toshiba L655 fits nicely with room to spare.
I have the old 1490 which I just love but needed a half inch bigger case for my new PC.
That case stood the test of time and protected my PC for many years taking hits along the way.
Recommendations:I would like to see a better latch design, four latches are overkill and a hassle when setting up.Using lighter weight materials to lighten the overall weight would make this a fantastic product. Should be more room inside for miscellaneous items for such a big and heavy case.
